Our Story

Our Founders

Jankey Faye & Ruquaiya Monargent

United by a shared vision of compassion and service, our co-founders bring dedication and heart to every meal we serve. With a passion for community and a commitment to dignity, they ensure every Friday brings nourishment and hope to those we serve.

Our Community

Every Person Matters

Behind every meal we serve is a person with a story, dreams, and inherent dignity. We're committed to seeing each individual, hearing their voice, and treating them with the respect and care they deserve.

Since April 2022, Feed the Streets WA has been more than an organization—it's a movement of love and solidarity. Every Friday, we gather in the Seattle area to serve hot, home-cooked meals to our homeless neighbors. What started in Everett as a simple act of kindness has grown into a community tradition that touches over 50 lives each week across multiple locations.

We believe everyone deserves a warm meal, a kind word, and the dignity of being seen. Through rain or shine, we show up—not just with food, but with hope, respect, and genuine care for every person we meet.

A Poetic Journey Through The Streets

A Story of Resilience and Hope

Jankey Faye, a passionate advocate for the homeless, is the author and co-founder of Feed the Streets WA, a nonprofit organization. Her personal experience as a young homeless teen victim inspired her to utilize her platform to shed light on the harsh realities faced by those living on the streets. In her book, "Life on the Streets," Jankey courageously shares her own story and the stories of others who have experienced homelessness by a Poetic Journey "Through The Streets".

Jankey recognizes that not everyone has encountered the same setbacks and tragedies that many and herself has faced, but she firmly believes in the importance of sharing the reality of homelessness to create understanding and drive positive change.

Artist Spotlight

Lauren Iida – Art with Heart and Impact

Seattle-based hand cut paper public artist Lauren Iida has used her incredible talent and platform to support Feed the Homies WA in powerful and meaningful ways.

During our Holiday Drive, Iida partnered with us to expand our reach through art, raising awareness and gathering massive donations of warm winter gear—including socks, groceries, hand warmers, clothing, and other essentials for our unhoused neighbors.

In addition to fundraising, Iida generously volunteered her time to help our team cook and distribute homemade meals as part of our Feeding the Homies Friday initiative.

Iida is also the brilliant artist behind the Feed the Streets WA logo, giving us a visual identity that reflects both our purpose and heart.

More than a collaborator, Iida is family to our team. She continues to raise awareness through her art—not only for the unhoused crisis in Seattle, but also by sharing stories rooted in her own family's history during the Japanese internment in WWII and by supporting fellow artists in Cambodia.

We are truly grateful for Iida's ongoing love, creativity, and unwavering support. Her commitment reminds us that art is a force for change, connection, and community care.
